Abby Nielsen is the new Advancement Services Coordinator on the ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Foundation team in the Christianson Alumni Center. She does accounting, entering and processing gifts while working closely with other departments on campus.
Q: What drew you to ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø?
A: The ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Foundation’s values and mission, to serve and focus on the students.
Q: What unique experiences or skills from your past job do you bring to ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø?
A: Being able to build those personable relationships, which is helpful when working closely with donors.
Q: How do you prefer to start your workday?
A: Debriefing and taking it slow while drinking my coffee.
Q: What’s your go-to productivity trick? Or what energizes you at work?
A: Walks or standing up. Our offices have standing desks which make it really helpful if I just need to get my body moving.
Q: What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important?
A: How much goes into processing gifts from donors and sending out all the individuals thank you's.
Q: If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
A: Taylor Swift.
Q: What energizes you outside of work?
A: I like to bake and go running with my dog.
Q: What’s one thing people might not know about you?
A: I lived in Arizona for five years.
Q: What’s something—big or small—that you’re really good at?
A: Talking to people. It comes so naturally for me which I think is a really good skill set to have.
