Dr. Bradbury has received various awards, which include: a Bemidji State University Outstanding Alumni Award in 2002; the 2017 Excellence in Service Award at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø for his efforts to secure a three-million dollar appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature to provide increased teacher credentialing to meet Higher Learning Commission faculty requirements for high school teachers who teach concurrent enrollment courses; the 2019 induction into the Bemidji State University Professional Education Hall of Fame, which honors alumni who demonstrate excellence in teaching students or managing schools; and the 2019 Minnesota Rural Education Association Distinguished Service Award.

He is part of the core faculty for the EdD program and coordinates the Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership graduate programs. He has been with ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø since 2012. Prior his service at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, he spent 23 years in E-12 public schools. He served eleven years as a secondary Social Studies instructor, ten years as a high school principal, and two years as a superintendent of schools. Dr. Coquyt earned his BS in Psychology at SMSU and Social Studies teaching license in 1989. He earned an MA in Medieval History from SCSU in 1993. He attended Mankato State University and earned his K-12 Principal and District Superintendent licensure in 2002. Dr. Coquyt earned his EdD at St. Cloud State University with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration in 2013. Dr. Coquyt has authored three books on the topic of Teacher Leadership. The first is titled The Leader Within, published in 2016. The second book is titled Growing Leaders Within and it was published in 2017. I spent 5 years as a school psychologist in Iowa, then returned to ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø as a part-time instructor for psychology and education while working part-time in the Education department. Dr. Peter Geib, Professor of international business and management, has earned a post-doctoral fellowship from Yale University in management policy. He holds a PhD from the University of Michigan in political science and foreign policy. His dissertation focuses on trade policy formulation. He has conducted research on transition economies beginning with on-site interviews in China in 1988-1989. In the summers of 1991-1996, he conducted interviews in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. This research on transition economies and their strategic management implication has continued with efforts in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and India. Dr. Suarez-Sousa also functioned as Co-Coordinator of Teacher Education Assessment and Accreditation for approximately 3 years as well as served as Site Visitor/Evaluator for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Her research interests include psychoeducational metrics’ norm development, validity and reliability studies, program impact studies, and adult learning orientation / online instructional practices. Most of her research is conducted within the quantitative research paradigm. Dr. Suarez-Sousa is the managing editor of The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning (IJGLL).

I have always loved history. I grew up in New England surrounded by Colonial and Early American history—several of the houses on my street were built in the 18th century! I went off to Luther College in Iowa as a biology major and after graduation I lived in Norway for three years. Returning to the United States I worked at the U of Minnesota Hospitals in a research lab before deciding to apply to graduate school in history at Northern Illinois University outside Chicago where I wrote my dissertation on the yellow fever epidemics in the new nation’s capital in the 1790s. At ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø I teach all our courses up through the Civil War as well as a history of disease and medicine course. I strongly believe the purpose of higher education is to equip students with the skill set necessary to succeed in today’s world. My own experience tells me preparing students to engage in life of learning is much more important than filling heads with facts and figures in the classroom. In my classroom you will learn to think critically about the past so you may use it to inform your future—that is the most important skill higher education can give you help you on your way.

Lee Garth Vigilant (Ph.D. Boston College 2001) is professor of sociology at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. His principal areas of teaching are contemporary sociological theory, qualitative methods for social research, social movements, and social problems. He is a past recipient of the Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award for Sociology at Boston College, the TCU Senate Professor of the Year Award for Tufts University, and the Excellence in Teaching Award at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. Some of his peer-reviewed research are in the journals Sociological Spectrum, Humanity and Society, and Deviant Behavior. He is author of several sociological essays, encyclopedia entries, and book chapters. He is co-author with Dr. Joel Charon of the books The Meaning of Sociology (Sloan Publishing, 2016) and Social Problems: Readings with Four Questions, 4/E (CA: Wadsworth/Cengage Learning 2012).
