Bobby Valdez is Minnesota State Moorhead’s new General Maintenance Worker. Bobby is in charge of South Snarr maintenance, keeping areas clean and safe for students.

Q: What drew you to Minnesota State Moorhead?
A: I worked here years ago, moving furniture to John Neumeier Hall. Then I had a job as a custodian, but I always wanted to work for ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. When the job opened, I applied.

Q: Do you have any previous connections with Minnesota State Moorhead?
A: My daughter and cousin both graduated from Moorhead.

Q: How do you prefer to start your work day?
A: I wake up feeling grateful for life. I like the energy on campus. I love working at and for ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, keeping facilities at their best for students and visitors.

Q: What's something big or small that you're really good at?
A: I'm a drummer. I used to play in a Spanish band with my dad around the Fargo-Moorhead area during “Quinceañeras” and dance events.

Q: If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: Disneyland Paris. My wife and I are Disney fanatics. We've been to Disney in Orlando eight times. Paris would be a great experience.

Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
A: Dog person. We have a Chihuahua, but we just got a cat because my wife loves them.

Q: What's the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from? 
A: My dad used to tell me to work and don’t expect anything to be handed to you, you must get it for yourself.
